Description

Calm and Confident though not arrogant. Drekul tends to take most things in stride and as such sometimes comes off as stoic and matter of fact. But the truth is that when he chooses to act it is generally with thought and commitment. It is that same commitment that holds him to those he cares for or calls family. He values bonds forged in commonality of one form or another and as such may take time to call someone friend, but those friends he has made in his wanderings have his loyalty until the end and as such can call on him no matter where he may be in his travels.Through hardship and travel he has learned to savor all life gives him, though far from a hedonist he does enjoy both food and drink in a variety of forms and is willing to try most things at least once, twice if he likes it.Due to his chosen profession he observes his surroundings out of habit, a trait that has led to him enjoying various surroundings and locals pits where he can watch the small and large details around him and learn from the experience. Be it via the thrill of battle, quiet moments, or the relaxation of food and spirit.Having discovered and wed his childhood sweetheart he returned to the Twelves Wood he once called home intent on settling down though still prone to wandering. After a whirlwind of conflict and resolution however he found himself once more returning to Shirogane to take over and renovate the bar where so many of his stories had began. With a new place to lay his roots in The Wanderer's Reprieve he has tried to resume a somewhat normal life.... or as close to it as he ever seems to manage between kidnappings, calls to arms, and an ever growing family.

History

Drek was born to a loving family in Ul'dah where he spent his time with many other refugee and local children finding a close bond with one in particular. But as is often the case nothing lasts forever and they had to leave the city, the only saving grace being that several of these families left together in a small caravan making their way to The Shroud to make a new start. At least that was the plan, a plan that was derailed by the appearance of a local monstrosity known as Girtab who lay waste to the caravan and seemingly slaughtering most if not all present.... only through instinct and luck did Drek survive long enough for the wood wailers to arrive and repel the beast though by then poison had nearly blinded him. He was rushed to Gridania where the conjurers managed to save his sight though it left him sensitive to light.... an affliction he had to learn to live with even as he was thrust into an orphanage. He lived in that over crowded orphanage vying for what he could and begging for more on the streets until he was thrown out when the bed was needed and he was deemed old enough to fend for himself. Then he was forced to do exactly that until he was able to join the God's Bow and begin what would be his life long pursuit.... training himself and pushing his own limits. After a failed attempt at vengeance on the beast that almost killed him he decided to leave The Twelveswood and seek further training elsewhere... returning to Ul'dah only to learn his family had originally fled due to debts owed to moneylenders. Moneylenders who now issued an ultimatum, sell himself into slavery to cover the debts.... or fight in the Bloodsands to try and earn the money to pay the debts himself. But the one thing no one could have anticipated is that Drek would prove a savant on the battlefield, dancing among opponents in a way that belayed his years and earned him both fame and fortune. A fortune the moneylenders were all to happy to take while claiming he still owed "interest." If not for the intervention of an outside party he may never have earned his freedom. However a man Drek would dub "The one honest soul in the syndicate" saw to it that his freedom was secured. With his debts payed he found himself approached by the Sultan Sworn and offered a job as a Freelance Paladin. As always he took the opportunity to further his training and push his limits. But it was not meant to be as he soon found that even the holy knights were not above corruption themselves. Disenfranchised he cast aside sword and shield even as he traveled to the icy fields of Coerthas where he took up the mantle of a Dark Knight.... much to the terror of the Holy See. During this time he walked a dark path and did things he would come to regret... so in the end he set aside the way of the knight all together.... once more determined to push his limits and find his place on and off the battlefield. So it was that he found himself in the port of Limsa Lominsa where he studied the way of the axe at the marauders guild and hit it off with a statuesque Roegadyn. While they had an undeniable chemistry Drek was as always drawn away by events greater than himself and the call of the battlefield. Thus did he find himself embroiled in the Ala Mhigan resistance and the efforts to liberate his ancestral homeland from Garlean control. Through these travels he revisited his training in hand to hand combat, a skill learned in the bloodsands, and embraced the techniques of the Ala Mhigan monks.... working diligently to master the Fist of Rhalgr. But it was in these endeavors he began to realize his greatest failing.... his weakness with Aether. So in efforts to surpass even this he studied the Gyr Abanian Red, and while he was able to learn it he would find he required tailored foci.... some limits you can not overcome by will alone.Frustrated by this failure he turned his attention to mastering past skills. He resumed his training with the bow adding to it the repertoire of the Bard. But during these days his oldest friend would call him away once more on an adventure that would test his limits and his skills in ways the pair had never before been tested.Another adventure done and behind him though he returned to the last place anyone would expect.... Ishgard. Determined to make amends he aided in the restoration and while there studied the new discipline of the machinist, mastering tools to supplement his own skill. But as always he could not settle in one place for long and before he realized it he found himself returned to the far east. Where for a time he managed to make a home seeking to build or replace what he had lost so long ago.But such thoughts and the losses he suffered in the interum left him broken in a way and seeking purpose as well as answers. The search for those answers almost cost him his life as he found himself in the depths of Alagan ruins, exhausted and outmatched, barely surviving through the help of friends. But even this had purpose, for upon his recovery and in seeking to have his arms and armor mended he would discover his childhood sweetheart.... alive and well though he thought her dead when he lost his family. Their reunion would fast bloom into a whirlwind romance.... one that would see them wed before the twelve and those they called family. With newfound resolve he would take up the Axe in earnest. Once more taking up arms in the defense of the star as an adventurer is want to do.... only to find himself beset by the sins of his past, a dark figure hunting him for vengeance. But at the end of the day his foe suffered losses of his own, his pain something Drek understood all to well.... the highlander swore to save his enemy rather than end him. Thus he settled in Ishgard hoping to run a small cafe, only for trouble to find him even as felt the call to return to where he was most at ease.... returning to Shirogane only to deal with a kidnapping plot and a tiny addition was added to the ever growing found family he seemed to be amassing. But the kidnappers soon learned that Drekul and his family did not take kindly to such affronts.... and with his family safe once more he has again decided to declare himself retired as he settles in to run his newly established Tavern among other future endeavors.

Ayleth Barlow (Baine)

Ayleth was literally the closest person to Drek growing up. They were two sides of a coin and the joke was they would one day wed. Upon being reunited years later their connection proved stronger than ever. What was once said in jest was soon reality as the pair were married in a small ceremony among friends.

Hildegard Valentine

Hilde is one of Drek's Closest friends, their history is such that he has come to view her as family and as such he would move the heavens to help her in most instances.

Zoe Gyrmoenwyn

Zoe is a close friend and an old flame recently returned to Drek's life. Their chemistry is hard to deny both on and off the battlefield. She fast became close to Drek's wife leading them all to consider a great many things. Though she found her own path in the end there is still no denying that there is something between her and the highlander.

Qina Relanah

Qina is a recent addition to the group. A doctor hired to see to those who may need such attention among them. Though it did not take long for various bonds to form and thus did the doctor find a special someone.... or a few.

Vallerin Rillemont

Vallerin is a complicated case. A man who once sought to end Drek's life. But Drek saw in him the same pain and loss he understood all to well. He vowed to spare the man from repeating his own mistakes and in the end helped set Vallerin on a new path.... what the future holds remains to be seen.

Koh Entialpoh

Koh is someone Drek has vowed to protect. Though like her father she once sought to do him harm Drek has befriended the young Mi'Qote and even offered to aid in her training. But what he wants to offer more than training is simply friendship and a safe place for her after all she has been through.

Nihli Toqe

Nihli is a friend and companion met during Drek's various adventures. She has proven a steadfast addition to his life and her mastery of magic has proven invaluable as has her report with the Auspices. She has recently begun assisting in his wife's studies as a mage.

Kiba Saberfang

Kiba is another friend and adventuring companion met during Drek's travels. He is the one Drek most often relies on when he or his found family require healing as the scholars aptitude can not be understated.

About Me

I am generally available most times for RP or other collabs. I am fairly flexible and laid back though i do try to adhere to lore as much as possible. I do however draw a hard line when it comes to character bleed and meta gaming, please keep IC and OOC separate.

General guidelines

  • 1. Keep IC and OOC seperate

  • 2. Consent is king, nothing either party is uncomfortable with should ever be on the table.

  • 3. I try to adhere to lore but am okay with lore bending in some cases, lore breaks not so much.

  • 4. Communication should be clear so as to avoid confusion both in any planning and among parties in general. If it isn't, ask for clarification.

  • 5. I do not generally do ERP though Mature themes are usually acceptable

  • 6. Last but not least, RP is meant to be enjoyable so have fun. If something hits a snag we can always talk to try and sort things out.
